Earlier this week my lovely Lady, Pipsqueak Fiddlesticks, led me to a sim that was recommended to her. We travel far and wide based on recommendation and sometimes we are never quite sure what we will find. And sometimes what we expect is not at all what we discover. Case in point — MadPea (more specifically, yet unbeknownst to us at the time, Swamp Hotel).

[click for larger image]

We TPd in to the main region and began our exploration with much zeal… and also before all the signage had rezzed in (not a wise idea in either an RP or game environment but how did we know?). We travelled along a sequence of dock like paths through a fabulous swamp. We thought it very creative and quite enchanting. Being the curious person that I am, I noted a decline at the end of the docks and followed the pathway down… and down… and around… and down.

Now I was very curious, standing upon the circular platforms deep underground. I jumped down from one to the next until I made the final jump! Oh look — a board with nails… and… ZOMBIES! Putting two and two together, or rather, board and zombie, I slew a few zombies before realizing there was a never ending supply that raises in triplicate once a set is defeated. I hopped back up out of their bite range and decreed the “trap” much fun.

[click for larger image]

However, up above, Lady and I were greeted by Cold Frog (a MadPea devotee gameplayer) and Rocksea Renegade (part of the MadPea team), who informed us that we had started with the end. The end of what? The GAME! Well, I felt completely daft. What do you mean there were instructions? Signs? That will teach me to begin exploring before waiting for all to rezz.

[click for larger image -- Cold Frog and Rocksea Renegade, who were an absolute delight]

After a hearty laugh, Lady and I decided to try Swamp Hotel from the beginning. And I’m quite happy we did, for it was a very fine adventure (even though I knew how it would end). The game was reminiscent of Shivers, if anyone remembers that computer game (Ixupi, anyone?). As Shivers was one of my favourite games, I do mean the comparison as a great compliment to the MadPea team.

I do not wish to spoil any more for you than I already have, but if you enjoy adventures, love to click on things and puzzle through a solution, I strongly recommend MadPea Productions’ games. Now this is truly what entertainment in SL is all about! Insofar as a game goes, the quality, like the build, is extremely high. They are very detail oriented and weave a fun and engaging story. I may be shot for saying this, but I preferred this “SL game” over CSI’s, and I am a massive CSI fan.

TP now and have a whirl. So many games to choose from! I do hope there is no end in sight for MadPea Productions. Well done!
